At this time, the band’s main composer and lyricist was Roger Waters, who assumed the role of leader and spokesperson for the group.
Waters gave a more critical and political stamp to Pink Floyd’s songs, reflecting his vision on topics such as war, capitalism, alienation and madness.
Under his direction, the band achieved its greatest commercial and artistic success with the albums
- The Dark Side of the Moon (1973),

- The Wall (1979).

The decline: the era of David Gilmour

The new stage of Pink Floyd was led by David Gilmour, who was in charge of the composition and production of the albums
- A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) and
- The Division Bell (1994).
These albums were well received commercially, but were criticized for their lack of originality and innovation.
The band also went on successful world tours, which included spectacular visual and sound effects.
The end: the reunion and the last album
2005, a historic event occurred: the reunion of the four classic members of Pink Floyd (Waters, Gilmour, Wright and Mason) to participate in the Live 8 concert, organized by Bob Geldof to combat poverty in Africa.
